Axel Kicillof, the governor of the Buenos Aires province, stated on Thursday that his attempt to seek re-election would be “natural,” although he clarified that the decision would be made within the framework of the overall strategy adopted by the ruling party, Frente de Todos (FdT). “There are rumors. Today, I am the governor, and I have a term until December 10. Meanwhile, we are in full swing. I know that there are ten opposition candidates facing me, who, as we see, are engaged in a fierce internal battle,” said the provincial leader in television statements.
The governor, who will meet with unions and social organizations today, said that the request from the mayors is “permanent,” and he is “available” for the “task.” However, he clarified: “This is not a launch, but it is natural. I always say that this is not an individual decision or a matter of personal adventure. We have experienced that type of situation, and we see it in the opposition.”
Regarding a potential launch, Kicillof stated that “it will be at the opportune moment,” as it will be part of the FdT’s “strategy,” and he emphasized: “I am working to ensure that this project is re-elected in the Province, which is a project for health, security, education, infrastructure, and production.”
The ruling party’s internal race in the province is not yet closed, according to Victoria Tolosa Paz, the Minister of Social Development, who wondered if “anyone heard Cristina (Fernández de Kirchner) say that the only candidate is Kicillof.”
